| Pierre Kuonen is born the
23th of July 1958. He obtained the Master degree in electrical engineering from
the Swiss Federal Institute
of Technology in January 1982.
From April 1982 to June 1983 he worked as the Field Engineer with Schlumberger Overseas S.A. in Africa in the petroleum industry. From October 1983 to December 1987 he was Engineer at the R&D department of the company Charmilles Technologies S.A. He was involved in the development of CAD tools and expert systems. From 1988 to 1993 he has been assistant at the Computer Science Department of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in the Computer Science Theory Laboratory. He was involved in teaching and research on parallel programming and Computer Science Theory. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in 1993. From 1994 to 2000 he has been a scientific collaborator at the
Computer Science Theory Laboratory making researchs in the fields of
parallel languages and massively parallel computing. During this
period he was leader of Parallel Computing Research Group
(GRIP)
and managed several european projects
(STORMS
and EuroTOPS-RiskPro)
as well as national research projects (LEOPARD,
PERFO,
PARCEL
and ADOOC).
Since 2000 he is full professor at University of Applied Sciences, Valais (HEVs).
